The Beekeeper Taster Day run by New Forest & District Beekeepers is your chance to experience bees first hand and find out what it is all about. This year to be held on August 16th.

This session will give you an overview of beekeeping and the opportunity to get up close to the bees. This is the perfect experience if you’ve always fancied keeping bees and want to know more.
The day runs from 9.30am to 4pm, a maximum of 16 people – so book early to avoid disappointment.
What do we cover
- Bee Biology and Lifecycle
- Beekeeping best practice and the beekeeping year
- Honey, Pollen, Propolis, Wax, and Mead, what are they and where do they come from.
- Equipment needed for both bees and the beekeeper
- Hands on with the bees.
What we provide
- Beekeeping jackets/suits and gloves
- Refreshments, tea coffee and cake
What you need
- Bring wellington boots and wear long, loose trousers.
- A packed lunch.
Accompanied children are also welcome, but please let us know their ages when booking and parents or guardians must accompany them.
Places are limited so please email: our education officer for further details and to reserve a place. There is a charge of £50 for adults; children over the age of 10 can attend, up to the age of 16 are half price @£25. All children must be accompanies by a full paying guardian attendee. We will respond and confirm your reservation. Fee payers who subsequently sign up for the New Forest & District Beekeepers Introduction to Beekeeping course will get a £10 discount on the ‘Introduction to Beekeeping’ course in the following year.
